About Me
Hello! I’m Joshua W. Roberts, and I’m delighted you’re here. Music has always been at the heart of my life. For more than two decades I’ve served in ministry, taught students, and led worship—from small-town Louisiana to cross-cultural missions, college stages, and local churches. In the fall of 2024 my wife, Suzy, our son, Meyer, and I moved to Pike Road, where I now serve as Music Minister and Church Administrator at Reformation Presbyterian Church.
Educational & Ministry Background
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance From Lousiana Tech Univeristy and a Master's Degree from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. I've spent several years leading worship, teaching private lessons, collaborating with a wide range of instrumentalists, and directing choral ensembles in Louisiana, Mississippi, and most recently in Missouri.
Musical Experience
I first began as a Private Piano Instructor in 1999 while in undergrad studies at LaTech.
Associate Pastor of Worship & Creative Ministries
First Baptist Church, Vidalia, LA (2006–2008)
Associate Pastor of Worship, Education, & Missions
Pearson Baptist Church, Pearl, MS (2009–2011)
Minister of Music
National Heights Baptist Church, Springfield, MO (2011–2022)
Worship & Young Adult Pastor
First Baptist Church, Springfield, MO (2022–2024)
Music Minister and Church Administrator
Reformation Presbyterian Church, Pike Road, AL (2024-present)
In each of these roles I’ve led worship, directed choirs and instrumental ensembles (including orchestra), overseen A/V ministries, and performed as a pianist, organist, and vocalist. I’ve also provided music for approximately 200 weddings over the years.
Teaching Philosophy
I teach both piano and voice, and I’m passionate about helping each student discover their unique musical journey. Whether you’re age 8 or 80, beginner or advanced, my approach centers on:
Solid Foundations in technique, music theory, and musicianship
Repertoire You Love—from classical standards to your favorite contemporary songs
Goal-Oriented Learning, with clear milestones, performance opportunities, and regular feedback
Encouragement & Fun, because joy is essential to long-term progress
Studio & Community
My private studio is based right here in Pike Road, so you won’t have to drive far for top-quality instruction. Beyond weekly lessons, I offer semester-end recitals, studio masterclasses, and recommendations for exams, festivals, and college auditions.
Beyond the Keys
When I’m not teaching or planning worship services, you’ll find me directing and playing for our church choir, exploring new hymn arrangements, or enjoying family time with Suzy and our son Meyer. My broad background—spanning children’s camps, international missions, choral direction, and worship leadership—shapes a holistic teaching philosophy: solid technique, meaningful repertoire, and a supportive community. I’m excited to bring all this to my studio in Pike Road and journey with each student in both musical skill and personal growth! I truly believe music is a gift to share, and I can’t wait to help you (or your child) unlock the joy of playing.
